Cashew

Hi All

A few pictures of Cashew adopted from Wetnose.

Regards!

Tony (now Benjie)

Hi Fiona and all the wonderful people who looked after me during my stay at Wetnose, this is Benjie here (I was called Tony but my new mistress Penny liked Benjie better as it is more of a doggie name).

I thought I would just let you know how I am getting on.  In the beginning I felt a bit strange and could not eat too well and used to get a runny tummy, but I have settled in well.  I have attached a few photos so you can see how I am doing.  I have got out of the complex twice when the gardener was here but luckily was picked up by kind people who brought me home again.  The gardener has been told off very sternly!!  I do get a bit lonely during the day when Penny is at work but having a loving home makes it all worthwhile.  Penny loves me very very much and she loves to cuddle me which of course I revel in.

As you can see from the photos I do get out and about a bit in the car, but I do get a bit stressed and occasionally throw up in the car!!

The complex I live in has lots of dogs and when Penny takes me for a walk (which is often) and the dogs bark I bark and whine right back at them!  Everyone thinks I am very cute.  I am a very well behaved dog and was obviously well trained at my first home, it is just that I do like to be elevated so jump up on the furniture to get high up.  It is such fun.

Well I hope you are all well and I do miss you all and thank you again for looking after me.

Lots of love

Benjie Steele

Wetnose Charity Dinner

Jasper and Sasha

Dearest Wetnose,

We adopted Jasper the Basset just over a month ago and he was not in such great condition after being attached by a wild pig and he was very thin. He is now doing wonderfully well and has picked up weight and all his wounds are healed.

Thank you for blessing our home with him and Sasha.

Jasper loves his best friend Sasha (Basset cross)  who we also adopted from you guys about 5 months ago. They play all day and night. Jasper and Sasha love coming to the farm where we work during the day and here they play with their friends Cobalt ( Husky ) and Spike ( Jack Russel). They roam the farm and play all day and are exhausted by the time we go home.

Jasper is  so full of life and energy, as playful as a puppy and talks all the time. He loves cuddles and loves sleeping on the couch. His favourite toy is the ropey and he loves playing fetch.  He still seems a bit weary of men but he is slowly coming around and I know with time he will be better.

Sasha is our cuddly bear and loves to laze in the sun and get attention from everybody. She has no fear and simply loves everybody and everything. The workers on the farm have even named her “Thandabuntu” which means lover of people.

I have attached some pictures of Jasper and Sasha and there are some before pictures of Jasper of when we first got him, the difference is remarkable.

Thank you once again for all your hard work.

Kindest regards

Bronwen

Juliet and Stitch (now Sasha and Bruce)

Dear All

Just a few pics of Sasha and Bruce. Sasha (“Juliet”), we adopted on Saturday.

The photos of both of them on the dog bed was taken on Sat night after they spend the entire afternoon playing. They did not stop for hours.

Both were stiff on Sunday, and not surprisingly they rested and slept most of the day.

Will send more photos when she has had a chance to settle in properly.

Thank you  !!

Kind regards

Janine & Ian

Bambi (now Lara)

Hi guys,

Just to thank you once again for the beautiful little girl we could adopt from you. She was “Bambi” when she left there but we changed her name to Lara. As Wet Nose is a bit of a distance for me to travel, I took her to our Vet,  who was kind enough to give her all the necessary inoculations at a very low rate because I adopted her from Wet Nose. I am taking her back soon to have her very last inoculation and to have her spayed. I am attaching some early as well as later photographs of her. As you can see she is a little spoilt. (Understatement!) Keep up the good work…

Regards,

John, Simon & Lara

Tripod (now Oscar)

Hi

My name is Oscar. You know me better as Tripod. I just thought I would let you all know how I’m doing in my new home.

Well, firstly, I’m happy to say that I found my “forever home”

I have two very nice sisters. Rusty, who is very old, sleeps a lot and Sox, she’s younger than me and is very playful.

When I was coming “home” for the first time, my humans found out that I get car sick. But that didn’t stop them putting me in the car two days later and taking me to the groomer. I got car sick again. Twice. I heard them saying that the next time I go in the car, they’ll bring a bucket.

I slept in the braai area for the first week and surprised my humans when they found me stretched out on the very comfy outside couch. They were told I couldn’t jump. Now they know I can.

Then one night last week, it started raining and the thunder was loud. I got “scared” and ran into one of the bedrooms and hid under a table. I think maybe that’s why I now sleep inside, right outside my humans bedrooms.

Every morning when my sisters and me wake up, we get biscuits. Sox has to do tricks to get hers but Rusty and I only have to sit. That’s all the two of us can do.

Every afternoon, the three of us go for a short, yet tiring walk. I get really excited when I hear the keys and see my leash. I have my humans well trained because when we get back from the walk, all I have to do is flop down and they’ll bring me my water.

Well, that’s all I have for now. I am happy and am really enjoying my new family.

Thank you for helping them adopt me.

 Oscar

Frances (now Bella)

Hi All Wetnose staff,

We adopted Frances (Now Bella) 5 months ago and she adapted very quickly to
her new environment.  She picked up some weight, the scar around her neck is
almost not visible anymore and she has grown into such a cheerful
personality! She still cannot get used to running around in the garden and
can’t seem to get enough of this freedom. Where she used to be timid and
nervous, she has changed into a bubbly, lively happy dog.  She love’s to
cuddle, and seems to go through a belated puppy stadium as she carries
anything that lies around, outside and chews on it.  I suppose she is
catching up on what she has been deprived of.  She is the perfect partner
for Bully(her “step brother”) and they are constantly playing – to such an
extend that he pulled a cross-ligiament already within the first week that
Bella joined our family!

Although the two of them tends to wreck the garden every other day, she is a
pure joy to us and I can’t imagine life without Bella.  She just has the
most grateful look in those two eyes that makes one forget any mischief
she’s been up to.

Thank you for making her part of our lives!

Mara

Jumping for our dogs

Please note that the event has been postponed, as soon as we have a new date we will inform everyone! Sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Babushka

Good Day

I have to say we are extremely impressed with your establishment and our new most awesome dog. She is still a little skittish around strangers and strange dogs but every day she calms a little more and stands her ground more and more. She is a pure delight with the kids and gets along so well with our male. By the way I think you got her breed all wrong. I think she is a GSD / Collie mix not Husky. She behaves way to well to have Husky in her she is also super intelligent and as the attached photos show quite a clown.

Thank you for making her addition to our pack possible.

Mr S.W.Dick

Goodbye Dieter…..

Hi Fiona

Just to let you know we had to say good-bye to our dearest Dieter.

Thanks for having entrusted such a brave and loving dog to us!

Gia

—————————————————–

Goodbye Dieter…

We adopted Dieter from Wetnose Animal Rescue Centre in April 2005. He was about 2 – 3 years old.

Dieter was a unique dog – utterly brave and so protective over us! He even received a bravery award and medal from Wetnose for attacking a burglar in our yard. He had to undergo emergency surgery and spent a week in ICU, after the burglar slashed Dieter with a panga. He lost his ear in the process, but he recovered remarkably well. At the end of 2008 we moved to Namibia – with our 5 dogs and 6 cats in trail. Dieter loved the walks at the Avis dam, made friends with each and every doggie he passed on his walks … and even survived a snake bite – did I mention he was one tough little chap?!

Some weeks ago Dieter was diagnosed with a tumour in his spine – a spot where an operation is not possible. Despite cortisone, he deteriorated rapidly and we had to say good bye on 2 September 2011 to our dearest boy.

Dieter, you were such a joy in our lives – we miss you terribly!

Toni, Gia and your furry siblings

Dunay

Perla

Dear Wetnose Staff

Thank you to everyone at wetnose who helped my family and I adopt Perla. She is a very fast learner and has quickly adapted to her new surroundings. She spends most of her time running around the garden, chasing balls and chewing on her chew toy ( which she takes with her everywhere she goes). I have attached a photo’s of her.

I must just add that Perla is the madam of the house she loves talking to us if we  don’t  reply she throws her toys out of the cot, but she’s my little bundle of joy she’s now 10 weeks old.

Regards

Paula Stevens and Perla

Progress report – Bev

Dear Wetnose Staff

Thank you to everyone at wetnose who helped my family and I adopt Bev. She is a very fast learner and has quickly adapted to her new surroundings. She spends most of her time running around the garden, chasing balls and chewing on her chew toy ( which she takes with her everywhere she goes). I have attached a photo of her with her toy in her very favourite bush which is now much flatter than it was before :-)

 All the best

Nadine and all the rest of the Shaw family.

It has been a year!

Thelma and Louise came to live with us a year ago already! I can’t believe how time has flown!

Happy adoptiversary my sweet clever puppies!

They still have no idea how to play, or what to do with doggy toys, but they chase each other round the garden – and Louise gets so excited when we go into the garden that she woofs and dances! Thelma is the smarter of the two, and the most obedient. :) Louise is the excitable one and will do just about anything to go for a walk!

They were at the vet recently for their annual shots, and both very obediently got up onto the scale when prompted- Thelma weighing in at 11.7kg and Louise is 13.2kg. They were very nervous at the vet’s office of course, and they were shaking nervously when I lifted them onto the table for a check up and their injections- but once they were on the floor again they were quite happy.

Thelma still doesn’t like the car. She’ll get in no problem for one trip- like the trip to the vet- but the going home trip she took a lot of coaxing to get into the car again. Louise has no problem and will happily run and jump in the car at every opportunity!

They are such sweethearts, and now its getting really cold at night they sleep inside on their own cushions in the corner. They don’t wonder the house and they don’t pick on the cats!

Misha goes home with her pretty new owner

This little girl has just adopted her first dog, and judging from the smile on her face, Misha has found a wonderful new friend.

Misha we were told, will sleep warmly tonight on a thick comfy sheepskin blanket in her new owner’s bedroom. This small dog has certainly found a wonderful new home.

The next few weeks will be an exciting time for them both, getting to know each other, playing together and talking with one another.

Misha, we wish you all the best, may your new owner care for you with love for many years to come.

Chief Dan George wrote these wise words -

“If you talk to the animals they will talk with you
and you will know each other.
If you do not talk to them you will not know them,
and what you do not know you will fear.
What one fears, one destroys. ”

Dante

Hi

Dante doing well and all settled in with minimal fuss :) he has loads of
energy and has been bounding around all afternoon.

Will keep you updated..

Thank you

Michelle

Dante Appeal – Has been adopted, thank you

Hey there, my name is Dantè, I am an 8 year old Labrador Cross currently at Wet Nose!
You most probably hear a lot of sad stories…this is mine…
I was staying with a lady who has a nice spacious property somewhere in Pretoria who only wanted me as a security dog but I was kept in a confined area in the back of the premises! One day these horrible things started growing on my back paw and on my body, I thought that my owner loved me enough to take me to the vet…NO she used Curry Powder…
Someone must have noted my misery and called a place named Wet Nose…on the 25th November 2010 a kind gentleman and a lady arrived at our house and started talking very seriously to my owner who said there that she loves me very much but needs me back because they will steal everything on the property if I’m not there! I was taken to a vet and she kindly spoke to me and promised me that I was in good hands and will be okay. She spoke the truth as I was fine after my operation and the people at Wet Nose really became my family!
About a week ago another horrible lump started in my face, the vet removed it and sent it to be tested…my worst nightmare…I have cancer! I do not know how long I have left on earth, I have one wish before I go and that is to be part of a family. I know this sounds very selfish as I can not say how long I will be part of you but I want to make someone smile and if my last wish can come true I will go to doggy heaven in peace and can tell all my friends in heaven that there is a heaven on earth as well! If I do get sick or need medical attention, Wet Nose said they will treat me at no cost to you…
So please if you can and will open your home, heart & family for me to have my last wish please contact Veronica on (013) 932 3941 or 082 337 6326.

Rasta (now Kucho) and Shaggy (now Yogi)

Hi there.

Here are some pictures of my babies that i adopted from you about 2 years ago. i have no idea how to post them the adopon feedback on your website. This is rasta “now kucho”, who was supposed to be a mexican hairless chiuawa, but when he grew about 20 times bigger than a chiuawa i did some research, and it turns out he is a inca orchid peruvian hairless. Very rare, special breed. He is a total nutcase, loads of energy, and he can never get enough love and attention. Then there is shaggy “now yogi”, he is my german shephard, great dane cross. The softest, most gentle animal i have ever come across and highly intellegent,he is by far my most well trained dog,he loves to please. They are gorgeous, and they bring a great deal of happiness and joy into my life.

Thanx a mil. You people do a great job!

Lindsay

Angelo (now Jello)

Hi

So sorry for the late response, finally found the camera cable for the laptop and have some photos of Jello for you. We actually walk him off the leash now, the first time we did it, he just bolted and kept running and after running faaaaaaaaaaaar ahead of us, he turned around and realised we weren’t there and came back and after that when he walked off the leash, he’d run ahead, turn around and wait for us and then when we caught up, he’d carry on.

And when he doesn’t get any attention from us he’ll walk away in slow motion from us and keep turning around every few steps to check if we’ve noticed that he’s going and if we even look in his direction or start laughing he runs back and jumps onto us. He is just too cute and always happy and full of love.

I’ve attached some pictures but some of them are too big for me to send in this email but I will send them in the emails following this one.

Take care :)
